Welcome!

I view therapy as an act of courage and an opportunity for personal growth and healing. Although making the first step towards change can be intimidating, I have a deep respect for the vulnerability it takes to start the process.

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed and client-centered. We will work to bring your body and mind into the room to find a greater sense of agency and autonomy. I will work with you to uncover your personal story by deepening insight into idiosyncratic patterns of thinking and behaving we all have, and identify healthy coping mechanisms. Guided by cultural perspective, I work with clients to address emotional challenges around identity, relationships, life transitions, trauma, grief and loss.

As a first-generation, South Asian women of color therapist, I attend to issues surrounding power dynamics, racial oppression and social privilege. I am able to relate to the challenges that women of minority backgrounds experience. I am passionate about working with women of color to identify ways they can develop coping strategies, create positive change, and enhance their inner strengths.

Credentials & Training

I received my graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University. My education provides me the framework to explore how people’s behavior serves a purpose within their social and relational context. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and have additional certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety from the BECK institute. In addition to the certifications, I have advanced training for counseling adults who’ve experienced childhood emotional neglect.

Many of my clients are seeking therapy to address prolonged symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and medically unexplained physical illnesses. I believe that everyone has the capacity to live a fulfilling life and I help clients who are ready to examine what’s not working in their lives to find new ways to cope.

I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including outpatient mental health clinic, various private practices and early childhood settings. I rely heavily on an eclectic blend of multiple psychotherapy modalities, including CBT, Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic techniques in order to understand and address the unique needs of each client. I am also well-versed in working with minority populations, South Asian, and anyone who identifies as multi-racial/ethnic. Additionally, I have experience in supporting immigrants, women of color, and international students.
