October Is Pregnancy & Miscarriage Loss Awareness Month

A gentle invitation to talk about what’s often left unsaid.

October marks Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge the often invisible grief that accompanies miscarriage and early pregnancy loss. These experiences are more common than many realize, yet they’re so often met with silence.

In my blog post, “Talking About Miscarriage: Understanding Early Pregnancy Loss”, I talk about how miscarriage is not just a medical event, but it’s a deeply personal, and emotional experience. Most miscarriages occur during the first trimester, a time filled with anticipation, vulnerability, and quiet hope. When loss happens, it can feel like so much more than the end of a pregnancy. For many, it’s a loss of identity, of dreams, and of a sense of control.

Grief After Pregnancy Loss Looks Different for Everyone

Some people feel intense sadness. Others might experience guilt, numbness, anxiety, or even a sense of disconnect from their own body. These emotions can shift from day to day and that’s okay. Your grief doesn’t need to follow a linear path to be valid.

Miscarriage affects 1 in 4 known pregnancies, yet it's something we rarely talk about. The waiting, the uncertainty, the emotional and physical toll, it all deserves to be witnessed and honored.

Therapy Offers a Space to Be Seen and Heard

As a therapist, I offer a space where you don’t have to hold this alone. Therapy can help you process your experience, make sense of the complicated emotions, and slowly reconnect with your body, your story, and your sense of self. Healing doesn't mean forgetting, it means making room for your grief, your voice, and eventually, your hope.

You’re Not Alone

If you’ve experienced pregnancy loss, please know that your feelings are real and important. You deserve support that honors your full experience—both body and heart.

If you're ready to explore that support, you're welcome to reach out. I offer therapy for individuals navigating miscarriage and pregnancy-related loss. You can contact me here to schedule a consultation or visit my Pregnancy Loss Support website.
